Vietnam: Between Tradition and Modernity
For many Europeans, Vietnam is a country about which little is known and which is still considered 'exotic'. It is a country that appeals to all senses simultaneously. A journey through this narrow strip of Southeast Asia is like traversing different worlds, all connected by the same untamed spirit.
Vibrant Cities
In metropolises like Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, the heart of modern Vietnam beats. Here, the incessant roar of thousands of motorbikes blends with the calls of street vendors. Colonial architecture meets glass skyscrapers, while the aroma of fresh coriander and grilled meat wafts from the street food stalls in the old town alleys.
Striking Mountains and Emerald Green Rice Fields
In the north, the landscape transforms into a dreamy painting. The rice terraces of Pu Luong and Sapa stretch like giant green staircases up the mountainsides, often shrouded in mystical fog. In Ha Long Bay, thousands of striking limestone karsts rise like sleeping dragons from the emerald green water – a sight as surreal as it is breathtaking.
Spiritual Serenity: Temples and Pagodas
Away from the hustle and bustle, countless temples and pagodas offer places of tranquility. Whether the imperial splendor in Huế or the colorful sanctuaries in Hoi An – the scent of incense and the soft murmur of prayers are a reminder of the deep roots of Vietnamese culture in tradition and spirituality.
Wetlands and Dream Beaches
The Mekong Delta in the south reveals a completely different face: A vast, labyrinthine wetland where life unfolds on the water. Floating markets and fertile orchards characterize this 'rice bowl' of the country. Those seeking tranquility will find it on the endless dream beaches of Phu Quoc island or in Da Nang, where white sand meets the warm, turquoise sea.
Vietnam is not just a country you visit – it's a country you feel, taste, and never forget.
With some visual impressions, I would like to provide an overview and encourage you to visit Vietnam yourself.
